UI interfaces tend to be very boring / that’s ok / follows the function / no distraction. No hate.

Except with the rise of standardized styling frameworks and AI heavily relying on them / most interfaces become interchangeable with simply adjusting a few variables. Hell, entire / complex / backends can be built in weeks / not months or years now.

It’s magic and has so many benefits. A ton.

For brands though, this is death / especially if your business can be copied with a little chat with our buddy Claude.

Is there running from it? I don’t think so. But while we’re on it / try a bit of personality. AI is not good at coming up with it on its own (at the moment) / it’s the oldest trick in the book / think differently and all that.

Now / do not fill your dashboards with glowing bubbles or let every element scream like Janice only to be seen (yeah right / little nerdy Friends comment). Here and there / make it feel like you care / like someone wanted it to be special for someone else to explore.

A small animation on tab or while hovering / supporting core messaging and function always makes me smile. Your entire design system can be built around those moments of feedback.

I believe that’s more than ever the task for engineering / and design. Everything else / AI will handle soon enough by itself. So while AI is working, let’s not become one unified thing with no edges, story and meaning.
