Growing up, my family had four dogs over the years. Each one so unique and special you could write essays about them.

Every time we get together and talk about them / the craziness, the brilliance / it connects us deeply. It is the closest thing to time travel I have experienced myself.

In 2021 I decided one morning / what the hell / I’ll get my own.
I was missing something in my life I had my whole childhood.

Thanks to the extraordinary help and care of vergessene pfoten I welcomed Suki to my home. Six months old, very exhausted, very shy (so I first thought).

For me it was love at first sight / I think she also liked me soon enough / food does the trick, I guess.

If you haven’t encountered it yourself / let me try to summarize / the thing about dogs is / no one else / over an entire lifetime / will continuously look up to you and be with you 24/7 the way a dog is capable of.

It is just special.

One has to wonder, though / how is it possible that two so very different species complement each other this well. Sharing so much joy between them.

A fantastic design by nature.

(and yes, Cats too. Different design i think though.)
